Songs for Farmers

Mom and I have been on a country music kick for the last week. It started with a George Strait’s I Just Wanna Dance With You and turned into a search for songs about farming, tractors, and hard work.

The Top 5 List is here….

5. Country Strong by Blake Shelton

… behind every good man, there’s a woman
She’s the one thing that keeps him goin’, keeps him goin’
She’s up in the mornin’ yawnin’ with that coffee pot on
Workin’ ’til the dinner bell brings him back home
Blue collar in her blood, backwoods in her bones
No doubt about it that girl’s country strong…

4. A Man on a Tractor by Rodney Atkins

…the man drove like the world was all right
the tractor hummed on like a part of a song
that you sing to your children at night
his work was laid out there before him
in rows of green, his whole life was revealed…

3. Be Grateful by The Farm

If you got someone who loves you
And a steady job that puts food on the table
If you’re strong and able
Man, be grateful.

2. Amarillo Sky by Jason Aldean

He just takes the tractor another round,
An’ pulls the plow across the ground,
And sends up another prayer.
He says: “Lord, I never complain, I never ask: ‘Why?’
“Please don’t let my dreams run dry,
“Underneath, underneath this Amarillo Sky.”

1. The Harvester by Brandon Heath

Bring out the sickle
Bring out the pail
Bushel full of wire
And a fork to the bale
Work through the pain in the rain or shine
C’mon y’all we still got time

For all that we’ve grown
How could we forget
Those who don’t know
Or just don’t know yet
Let’s harvest this field
From sunrise to sunset
The Master is coming
We are not done yet.
